In an effort to provide a safe and fun alternative to Halloween, the Church of the Vine Church of South Carver is hosting a FAMILY FUN NIGHT in Shurtleff Park on Monday, October 31, 6:00 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. Kids will be able to trunk or treat from the backs of festively decorated cars and some will even have games for the kids to play. There will be special prizes for those with the best costumes and we will be asking you to help us award the prize for the best decorated trunk. Enter to win a prize in the coloring and drawing contest. Get details about the contest at www.thevinecarver.com. We will also be GIVING AWAY a Wii Entertainment System to a family that attends Family Fun Night. This is a FREE event and open to the public. Questions??? 508.789.9103 or sjcoelho@aol.com.
If you have not all ready signed up to decorate your trunk. It is not too late. Here are some quick instructions to help you prepare:
¨ When decorating your vehicle, please remember that this is a FAMILY event: please do not decorate with items that can scare young children, such as blood, bats, witches, spiders, or monsters.
¨ The best way to decorate your vehicle is to pick a theme. Think of it as dressing yourself in a costume; sometimes you pick a theme and begin to throw things together. Check out the earlier Preparation Guide if you need some ideas.
¨ In other words, there is NO LIMIT to what you can do!!! For even more fun, make the children "earn" their candy by having them play a game that's related to your theme (i.e., if you have a Pirate Theme, have the children "walk the plank" or walk a maze to find the "hidden treasure").
IMPORTANT : For Trunk or Treat to be a success, we need your help to do he following:
· Be present at Shurtleff Park by 5:30 pm with your decorated vehicle.
· Make sure your vehicle is manned at all times.
· Invite friends and neighbors to attend!
· Plan to have at least 250 pieces of candy for your trunk. We are collecting other candy donations and plan to have extra candy on hand if you need it.
If you have any questions or need more information, contact Sandy Coelho at 508.789.9103 or sjcoelho@aol.com.
IF YOU CANNOT PARTICIPATE, YOU CAN STILL HELP BY:
1. Telling your friends and neighbors. We really need everyone's help to get the word out. We do have flyers, postcards and treat bags that you can get if you stop by the church and pick them up.
2. Consider going to Shurtleff Park during the next week and pray for the event!!! As much as we can saturate this place in prayer... the better.
Again, thanks for participating in this special event to bless our community.
